POST EVENT RELEASE
Motor Racing Golf and Gala Dinner Raises $55,000 for Down Syndrome
The inaugural Motor Racing Golf and Gala Dinner 2008 held on Thursday 25th September, 2008 at the Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa was a star-studded event with more than 350 people in attendance. Amidst the bubbly, wine and whisky, guests dined heartily on succulently tender lamb shank and specially prepared cod fish from the kitchens of Amara's Executive Chef.

VVIPs included Guest of Honour Mr S Iswaran, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and his wife, Kay and 1996 F1 World Champion Damon Hill,OBE and his wife Georgie who flew in from the UK specially for the event.
The Gala followed the Celebrity Golf Tournament held earlier during the day at the Sentosa Golf Club. Mr Hill was in Singapore to compete in the inaugural Motor Racing Golf and Gala Dinner 2008 at Sentosa Golf Club, a benefit event for Down Syndrome Association (Singapore). It was the first game here for 14-handicapper Damon, who won 22 GPs out of 122 starts during his racing career and retired from the sport at the end of the 1999 season.

"This event is indeed a wonderful opportunity to spread the message about what Down syndrome is all about, especially among people who have either become parents of Down syndrome children or have it themselves," said Mr Hill who is the Patron of the Down's Syndrome Association (UK) Information and knowledge, he added, are the keys to making a better life for all. "To be able to do it by playing golf and having dinner in Singapore in the weekend of the first Formula One Grand Prix is, in my opinion, even better," he went on to say.
The dinner event was organized by Champion Golf's Academy, Emcee Andy Nicol, former Scottish Rugby International and Captain, with Singapore's own Louis Tan Trio featuring jazz chanteuse Salha from Dubai and Clare Moorehouse from the United Kingdom providing the night's entertainment.
Other highlights featured a fashion show with a selection of clothes by POIS Boutique, jewelry by BVLGARI and models from Phantom; as well as a raffle draw, live and silent auctions. Key memorabilia up for grabs included a selection of auction items such as autographed photos of Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, F1 tickets, carpets courtesy of Carpet Galleria, holiday and golf packages, and other sports memorabilia such as autographed photos of Michael Schumacher, Kimi Raikkonen and Christiano Ronaldo, Tour de France Jersey courtesy of Lance Armstrong, a couture dress donated by home-grown fashion designer, Ashley Isham, and a Rolling Stones Fender Electric Guitar signed by all members of the band.
Guests at the Gala Dinner, some of whom were not able to get tickets to the first ever F1 street car night race headed for the next best thing ahead of the Grand Prix at the Amara Sanctuary Resort. The Marina Bay Street Circuit Simulator Game designed by staff and students from the Nanyang Polytechnic captured, as realistically as possible, the breathtaking skyline and surroundings of the Singapore circuit.
Among those seen racing through the simulator was none other than Damon Hill himself. The Motor Racing Golf and Gala Dinner, a private event organized by Champions Golf Academy, Corporate Media and First Branding raised $52,000 for the Down Syndrome Association (Singapore), the nominated beneficiary.
