Greetings from Metta Welfare Association.
Metta Welfare Association (Metta), in conjunction with title sponsor Keppel Fels, is organizing its 10th Charity Golf Tournament to raise funds for the less fortunate on 13th May 2009, Wednesday at Raffles Country Club. The Guest-Of-Honour for this event is Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Minister for Finance.
Metta is a non-profit charitable organisation that provides special education, welfare services, community and medical care to the intellectually disabled, elderly and terminally ill in our community, regardless of race and religion. Registered as a charity in 1994, Metta is endorsed by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education. We are also members of the National Council of Social Services, Singapore Hospice Council and Singapore Disability Sports Council. Serving over 900 beneficiaries, there are nine centres located island wide.
* Metta Home (a residential home for the intellectually disabled in Woodlands)
* Metta Day Activity Centre (day care centre for the intellectually disabled in Woodlands)
* Metta IDAC (day care centre for the intellectually disabled in Hougang)
* Metta Day Rehabilitation Centre for the Elderly (in Tampines)
* Metta Hospice Care (home hospice care for the terminally ill at Simei)
* South East CDC- Metta Student Care Centres 1 & 2 in Bedok
* North East CDC- Metta Student Care Centre in Pasir Ris
* Metta School (special school for children with learning disabilities in Simei)
* Metta Preschool (early intervention programmes for young children aged 3 to 6 with special needs in Simei)
The funds raised through the Charity Golf Tournament will be used to support the operational expenses of the above nine centres.
