Dear Golfers,
In our continuing efforts to provide scholarships and bursaries to students and cater to the welfare of needy families residing in the Jalan Kayu Division, we are organizing a golf tournament on Wednesday, 21 October 2009 at Sembawang Country Club.
JK CCC targets to raise $100,000 through the golf tournament.
Last year, we provided $35,000 worth of bursaries and scholarship to 82 qualified and deserving students. In addition, 728 awardees were co-sponsored under the Edusave Scholarship and Bursary programme. The slump in the first half of 2009 has invariably affected many of the students from less well to do families. As an interim measure, the Jalan Kayu CCC disbursed a one time special bursary to 98 needy students in June this year. This amount totals up to $27,200. On the welfare front, the CDWF assisted 204 needy families with disbursements of $68,000 in the past 18 months, from 1 January 2008 to 31 July 2009.
While there are signs that the economic situation is improving and the job losses in the 3rd Quarter may not be as severe as initially anticipated, the JK CCC hopes to replenish its CDWF in order to be able to continue to lend help to the needy students and families. Education is key to allow one generation to be better off then the preceding one. With your support, the JK CCC would continue to make progress on this front.
